1.Does Academy of Hope provide textbooks? Where do I get the required textbook for class? How much does it cost?

The syllabus for each course will list the required textbook and suggested sources to purchase the text. Some classes will also include suggested books. When possible, Academy of Hope seeks to require the lowest cost textbooks.  However, depending on the course, it may not be possible to use an older edition so the newer edition may be required.

2.What kind of technology will I need?

You will need a computer that is less than five years old, a high-speed Internet connection, and word processing software such as Microsoft Word. Assignments must be submitted in one of the following file types: doc, docx, pdf, or rtf.

3.Who grades my assignments? Do you issue a transcript?

Course instructors and/or facilitators grade students’ work and assign grades. Upon completion of a course, the student will be given a final grade with a certificate of completion.

4.What is the minimum age to take Academy of Hope courses? What is the maximum age?

A student must be entering or have completed 7th grade to enroll in Academy of Hope courses. There is no maximum age limit.

5.Can I take more than one course at a time?

Yes

6.What is your cancellation/withdrawal policy?

Any withdrawal or refund request must be submitted to the Academy by email according to the timetable below. Refunds are calculated based on the date of the email. All transactions made outside of the United States are final and no refunds shall be made. The following refund terms only apply to tuition payments or sales made inside the United States:

  • 100% of tuition shall be refunded if: (i) the withdrawal date is prior to the

start date of the course(s), and (ii) no Materials have been shipped for the

applicable withdrawal;

  • 50% if: (i) the withdrawal date is fourteen (14) calendar days following

the start date of the course(s), and (ii) no Materials have been shipped for the applicable withdrawal;

  • 0% if: (i) the withdrawal date is more than fourteen (14) calendar days

after the start date of the course(s).

There are no refunds on materials purchased or any applicable shipping charges if materials have been shipped. The Academy has no obligation to provide a refund if the student violates a school policy or otherwise fails to comply with any material term or condition applicable to enrollment.

6.Does Academy of Hope meet my state’s homeschooling laws?

7.How do I earn high school credit? How do I earn college credit?

High School credit:  Academy of Hope courses are structured in 16 weekly modules and include reading assignments, lectures, videos, class discussions, quizzes, and exams.  Students should expect to spend an average of 3 to 3.75 hours each week over the 16 weeks to complete one course. According to the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) guidelines for determining credit by logging hours, a student would earn ½ credit for a 16-week course. Students may elect to complete the 16-week course in 8 weeks by finishing two modules per week. College credit: Academy of Hope has an articulation agreement with Calvary Chapel University (CCU). Current CCU students can earn college credit for courses taken through Academy of Hope.  CCU will determine the number of hours and course alignment with CCU curriculum. Also, 11th and 12th grade students who plan to attend CCU may be able to earn credit for courses taken through Academy of Hope.  More partnerships with other universities and colleges will be coming.
